Manual

"The Diana questions many photographic axioms, such as "a photograph must be sharp," "a photograph must have maximum detail," and "a photograph must possess a complete range of tones to be considered good." The Diana challenges the photographer to see beyond the equipment and into the image."

- Robert Hirsch, Photographic Possibilities, Boston: Focal Press, 1991

A technical note on Diana cameras

The first source for the Diana f/stop said they're f/16, f/6.3, and f/4.5. The shutter speed is variable, of course, it's between around 1/30th and 1/200th.

On another site, it said the apertures are f/16, f/11, and f/8 with a shutter speed of around 1/45th. Well, that agrees for the "sunny" setting but for the other ones it disagrees.

The experts on www.toycamera.com. Somebody said he used f/16, f/6.3, and f/4.5. Of course, Dianas are no precision tools anyway so all this has to be taken with a thousand grains of salt.

Another Diana lover wrote me on 11/05/06 and said: The Diana's true apertures are f/11, f/13 & f/19, and it takes 32mm clip on filters. The Diana Deluxe- f/9, f/16 & f/22, and it takes a 46-49mm step-up ring. You make the choice!!
