Armed with a laptop and a glass of water, Maureen Dabbagh starved herself for 36 days in hopes she could force three governments to reunite her with her daughter. Six years ago, her ex-husband spirited their daughter out of the United States to Syria during a court-ordered visit. Dabbagh has not seen her daughter since. She has picketed, sued, cajoled. She has hired lawyers, bounty hunters and charlatans. She has spent $200,000 that she didn't have by raising enormous sums of money and going into debt. Dabbagh has been featured on worldwide Web sites dedicated to solving international child abductions. She has gained the support of the United States Senate, which passed a resolution in October calling on the United States and Syrian governments to do all in their power to reunite Nadia with her mother -- but still no Nadia. Dabbagh continues her fight today.
