Toledo Blade, Toledo, Ohio, staff photographer, July 2000 - April 2007. - I developed, researched, and shot photo projects and daily sports, news and daily assignments, My previous position with our Washington Bureau, was cut out due to budget tightening and I was brought back onto the staff in Toledo. I have recently been pioneering multimedia projects for the Toledo Blade website, utilizing sound, and slideshow projects. I am also proficient in shooting video, editing video and mixing sound.

Washington Bureau photographer, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Toledo Blade, August 1999 - July 2000. I developed, researched, and shot photo projects for the two newspapers. I worked out of my home in Fremont, Ohio; and reported to the Washington Bureau. I also work with reporters from either paper for specific national projects

Contract Photographer for the Block News Alliance, October 1996 - August 1999. The BNA consists of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Toledo Blade. I am based out of Columbus, Ohio.

Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, picture editing instructor, spring and fall, 1992.

Ohio Michigan Line Magazine, Toledo, Ohio, co-editor, November 1989 to January 1992. I owned and produced Ohio Michigan Line, a regional family feature magazine with a readership of 20,000. After its redesign, the magazine won ten state and two national awards, but ceased publication due to economic conditions.

The Sunday/Sun-Journal, Lewiston, Maine, photographer, August 1985 to March 1989. I was responsible for all the photography for the Sunday newspaper. This included three color feature section fronts per week, front page, and live stories color shot on Saturday. I edited all the film for Sunday and did many of the section front layouts.

The Advertiser-Tribune, Tiffin, Ohio, chief photographer, March 1983 to August 1985. As chief photographer, I was responsible for one full-time and two part-time photographers, and a fifty-thousand dollar budget.

The Daily Gazette, Xenia, Ohio, chief photographer, August 1982 to March 1983.

Search and Rescue Operations with The Pegasus Project, an animal rescue organization in the aftermath of the 1999 May 3rd Oklahoma City Tornado.

Pulitzer Prize
I was the primary photographer for the Coingate story, this year long probe was a Finalist in the Public Service category for The Blade, Toledo, Ohio, for its relentless probe of the state's investment in a rare-coin fund that exposed illegal actions by the governor and other state officials, spurring successful criminal prosecution and other corrective action.
 
2004
Pulitzer Prize
Finalist in the Investigative Reporting category for The five-day series A Deadly Alliance, by Sam Roe. I was the primary photographer for the series featuring which looked into the Beryllium Industry. The series has won numerous State and National awards for the investigation. The photos took a second place in the NPPA Monthly National clip contest. First in the Region 4 clip contest, and best of show in the Ohio News Photographers Association year end contest.

First Prize in the PhotoPoint.com Million Dollar Moment photo contest, for my Dominican Duel photo. I received a trip for two anywhere in the world valued at twenty-thousand dollars.
